Bridging the Gender Gap in Health Research: Our Commitment at DRUGDOCS®

January 8, 2024

We face a critical issue that cannot be ignored: the underrepresentation of women in RCTs. In 289 RCTs covering a wide array of diseases, overall median enrollment rate of women was only 41%!

This statistic reflects a global challenge, emphasizing the need for a more inclusive and thorough approach in analyzing health data.

Why does this matter? Because nuanced, gender-sensitive research is key to informed policy development, shaping future studies, and ultimately, achieving better health outcomes for everyone.

At DRUGDOCS®, we're taking action. We've introduced a new feature on our platform allowing users to immediately view sex distribution data in RCTs. This tool not only enhances evidence reporting but also supports the commendable efforts of our partners at the American Medical Women's Association (AMWA). Their dedication to advancing women in medicine, advocating for equity, and ensuring healthcare excellence is an inspiration.

This feature represents our commitment to informed and equitable healthcare decisions. It's a part of our broader effort to ensure health research is as inclusive and representative as it should be.
